Thanks to Ross, Iain and Niall. Great stuff. I went to school with one of them. School was rubbish, but it wasn’t his fault. No really.
Copyright business first – left4dead and all related soundclips are copyright of Valve, the best shooter dev ever ever ever. Mirror’s Edge is a property of EA Games and developed by Dice software. Review used portions of the in-game song “Still Alive” (uh, sounds awfully familiar guys) by Lisa Miskovsky. As ever, Gamewank often uses samples and loops from the Freesound Project and Magix (and about 15 billion Computer Music magazine coverdiscs).
A bit of housekeeping next, mainly to address 2 issues we’re aware of – firstly, the show does seem to be rather more 360-centric than we were planning. That’s not a conscious thing, it just seems that generally there’s more interesting things happening on the 360/PC side than on the other platforms. We’re going to address the balance next month however, when Richie reviews Sam&Max season 1 (Wii) and I’ll be reviewing Star Ocean: First Departure on PSP (because I’m getting it for christmas). In addition, out PS3 fanboy friend Steve (affectionately known as “Spasticated Steve”) should be putting in an appearance with some thoughts on PSN Home and Resistance 2.
Secondly, and this might not mean anything to non-audiophile types, we’re aiming to improve the sound quality by using 2 SM58s, instead of the current setup which is 1x SM58 & 1x Shitty £15 Maplin Mic From Hell. Nobody has complained about the sound so far and it is perfectly adequate right now (thanks to some life saving noise reduction/clipping removal plugins) but things should sound a lot tighter next time.
Liken My Balls to a Wednesday Afternoon,
Jamie
